Cingular Deluxe Developers receive complimentary Symbian Affiliate status while Cingular Wireless becomes Symbian Platinum Partner

Redwood Shores, CA – 16 October 2006 – Cingular Wireless and Symbian Limited today launched an early access support program to promote and accelerate application development for phones based on Symbian OS version 9. Cingular Deluxe and Corporate Deluxe developers are offered complimentary Symbian Affiliate status, providing early and free access to Symbian reference materials. Cingular has also joined the Symbian Platinum Partner Program, enabling Cingular employees access to exclusive program benefits.

A new Symbian Zone on Cingular devCentral provides Cingular Deluxe developers with early online access to the latest Symbian OS Library for Application Developers. This program is designed to give visibility of Symbian OS APIs and documentation before they are published in a smartphone SDK, helping accelerate application development for the latest Symbian smartphones coming to market including those with the S60 software.

Through the Cingular devCentral portal, developers will have full and unrestricted access to the latest Symbian Developer Library after completion of a simple click-through license agreement. Cingular Deluxe members taking advantage of this offer will have access to the Symbian OS Reference Guide – a definitive source of information for all Symbian OS C++ APIs which includes:

* a comprehensive introduction to the latest Symbian OS product release
* Symbian OS release notes
* Symbian OS C++ API Guide - including overviews by subsystems of all key APIs

Symbian
“With over 82 million devices shipped on over 250 network operators, Symbian OS is the market leading operating system for smartphones worldwide. We are collaborating with Cingular to offer deeper support to its developer community, ensuring accelerated time-to-market for applications targeting the latest Symbian smartphones at the earliest possible opportunity,” said Jerry Panagrossi, vice president of US operations, Symbian.

Cingular Wireless
"As Symbian smartphones become more and more popular, we’re ensuring that our customers have the best applications possible for these phones,” said Carolyn Billings, director of business development, for Cingular Wireless. “Cingular’s devCentral is the developer’s portal to essential tools, knowledge, resources and business opportunities designed to help with productivity and profitability. By enabling our Deluxe developer partners to have access to the Symbian Developer Library before it’s publicly available in a smartphone SDK, we’ll help to significantly reduce the time it takes to bring an application to market for Symbian smartphones.”

In October, Cingular will showcase Symbian as its featured partner on the devCentral portal and will offer a free Webcast on October 19th on Symbian OS software development. For more information, Cingular Deluxe developers can visit the Symbian Zone of http://developer.cingular.com/developer/technologies after membership log-in to the website.
