Winners announced for Nestlé’s Creating Shared Value Prize 2018

’Mumm’ from Egypt and ’Fishers and Changemakers’ from the Philippines are the joint winners of Nestlé’s 2018 Creating Shared Value Prize. The two social entrepreneurs have won CHF 150’000 each for their outstanding work in nutrition and rural development.

Nestlé CEO Mark Schneider presented the Prize to the winners at this year’s Creating Shared Value Forum in the Brazilian capital, Brasilia.

‘Mumm’ is an online platform and delivery service, offering healthy homemade food while empowering women in Egypt. In two years, the Cairo-based company has created more than 110 jobs and delivered over 7’000 meals.

’Fishers and Changemakers’ supports fishing communities in Central Philippines who are committed to sustainable practices. So far, the organisation has helped 150 fishing families to process and market their products.

A runner-up Prize of CHF 40’000 was also awarded to ‘Inka Moss’ from Peru. The company is improving livelihoods by training residents, mainly women, to harvest the white moss grown only in the Peruvian Andes.

The organisations will use the Prize funds to help scale up their projects, making them viable business initiatives.

The CSV Prize – created seven years ago – supports innovative social enterprises, commercial enterprises, and non-profit entities, creating shared value in any country around the world. It aims to address challenges in nutrition, water or rural development, supporting Nestlé’s purpose of enhancing quality of life and contributing to a healthier future.

To deepen engagement with social entrepreneurs, this year, Nestlé has partnered with Ashoka, the world’s leading network of systems-changing social entrepreneurs.
