Marianne Heiß to succeed Annika Falkengren on the Supervisory Board

Wolfsburg – WEBWIRE

The Supervisory Board of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft is to receive a competent addition in the person of manager Marianne Heiß (45). A corresponding proposal will be submitted to the shareholders at the Annual General Meeting in Berlin on 3 May 2018 if the Supervisory Board follows the recommendation made by the Nomination Committee today. The intention is for Ms Heiß, a native of Austria, to serve on the board by virtue of a court appointment until the Annual General Meeting on 3 May 2018. Marianne Heiß is to replace Annika Falkengren (55), who is resigning from her position on the Supervisory Board as she has taken up a new post as managing partner of a Swiss private bank, Lombard Odier.

Ms Falkengren has been a member of the Supervisory Board since 2011 and is resigning from the Board as she may not assume any external assignments in her new role as managing partner of Lombard Odier. This was also the reason for her resignation from her position on the Audit Committee of the Volkswagen Supervisory Board last year. In order to secure a smooth transition, Ms Falkengren had already declared that she was prepared to maintain her seat on the Supervisory Board for an interim period until a suitable replacement was found.

The Chairman of the Supervisory Board Hans Dieter Pötsch extended his heartfelt thanks to Ms Falkengren for her hard work during her term of office, stating that she had contributed significantly to setting the course for vital strategic positioning within the Supervisory Board, thus guiding the Group towards a successful future. Ms Falkengren commented that she was sorry to leave the Supervisory Board but that her resignation was a result of her new position with Lombard Odier. She said that it had been a very interesting period to work together with the Supervisory Board on setting the forward strategic direction through both good and more challenging times. She also said that she will continue to closely follow Volkswagen’s way forward, albeit from the outside.

Marianne Heiß has been working for the BBDO Group in various managerial positions since 1996. She has held the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) on the board of management of the BBDO Group Germany since 1 June 2013. She studied Accounting & Auditing, and Management, Organisation and Human Resources at the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt. And as an author, she has been proactive for more diversity in corporate governance.
