Carlsberg Group CEO Cees ’t Hart is the latest member of the Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders, a coalition of 79 chief executives, representing USD 2.13 trillion in revenue, who believe the private sector has a responsibility to actively engage in global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help lead the global transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy. The coalition also seeks to catalyse and aggregate action and initiatives by companies from all industry sectors with a view to delivering concrete climate solutions and innovations in their practices, operations and policies.

Commenting on the announcement, Cees ’t Hart says:

“I’m honoured and excited to join this group of like-minded business leaders that urges the delivery of the Paris Agreement, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. We all know that leadership is key to addressing climate change and that partnerships are essential for scaling our efforts to prevent it. This coalition, facilitated by the World Economic Forum, is one of the best.”

In June, the Carlsberg Group launched its ambitious Together Towards ZERO sustainability programme in response to increasing consumer demand for sustainable products in a time of global challenges such as climate change, water scarcity and public health issues. The programme, an integral part of the Group’s SAIL’22 strategy, consists of four major ambitions – a ZERO carbon footprint, ZERO water waste, ZERO irresponsible drinking and a ZERO accidents culture – each with individual and measurable targets.

This week, the Carlsberg Group announced it was looking for the world’s brightest young postdocs to work in a community of scientists, including postdoc fellows, experts, universities and laboratories such as the Carlsberg Research Laboratory, that can help develop innovative solutions for some of the world’s most pressing challenges and help deliver on Together Towards ZERO. The Community will build on achievements made at the historic laboratory and develop exciting new projects that set new industry standards for science-based and partnership-driven sustainability research, developing solutions for a better tomorrow.
