Animal Planet Premieres All-New Puppy Bowl Special Programming In Feb. Leading Up To Puppy Bowl XIV

This year for the first time, Animal Planet will premiere Puppy Bowl Presents: The Dog Bowl, a newly added furry football competition created for adult dogs living in rescues and shelters who are frequently passed over for their younger counterparts. The Dog Bowl, hosted by award-winning animal advocate Jill Rappaport will air during Road to Puppy Bowl on Saturday, Feb 3 at 8PM ET/PT leading up to the network’s premiere of PUPPY BOWL XIV on Sunday, Feb. 4. The one-hour special will feature all adoptable adult dogs in need of their forever homes.

Fifty dogs from over a dozen shelter will fill the roster of two teams of players, Team Paws and Team Tails, for what will be a full-scale matchup. The “Dogs Life” in-depth profiles will include NFL player Eric Decker and Jessie James Decker who run Deckers Dogs, a non-profit that trains rescue dogs to be to be service dogs for disabled vets; NFL player and animal advocate Logan Ryan; Tia Torres from Pit Bulls & Parolees; and Steve Greig aka @Wolfgang2242 on Instagram who has dedicated his life to caring for and helping to rescue senior dogs in need. This one hour special takes cuteness to a whole new level in a one-of-a-kind feel good special that celebrates the most huggable heroes of the animal kingdom.  But what does it mean to be ‘Cute as Fluff’ and how far are our furry friends prepared to go to achieve the highest level of cuteness? Flying fur balls, hop-along heroes, curly tails and cat-walking dogs are just some of the amazing stories featured. These incredible creatures are not only changing our understanding of cuteness, they are changing lives.   • Countdown to Puppy Bowl

Animal Planet looks back at the greatest moments from 13 years of PUPPY BOWL. The biggest plays, the cutest puppies, all of whom have been adopted to forever loving homes after their time on the field. PUPPY BOWL ‘rufferee’ Dan Schachner counts down the most memorable moments from past games, including some of the most incredible touchdowns, puppy penalties, and some of the most memorable puppy players to grace the gridiron. As Team Ruff and Team Fluff puppy players prepare for their journey to this year’s PUPPY BOWL XIV, camera crews were embedded with each team to get a rare, behind-the-scenes, look at what it takes to become a PUPPY BOWL champion. Through hard-work, dedication, determination, and cuteness, each puppy puts forth everything they have in hopes of earning a spot on the final roster. Each team’s head coaches are also documented as they face tough decisions as they make roster cuts in determining the final line up and those puppy players who will take the field on Puppy Bowl Sunday.
