Marjorie Hersom Reveals the Tale of Love and Marriage That Sprung from Survival and Faith, a Model for Long-Lasting Couples of Today

Family oriented author enlivens a novel based on the historical events of the North Pacific Islands from where her family ancestral line had been recorded. “Captive Bride” is a beautiful and inspiring tale of mid-1800 true love between strangers. As a young teenager the author was inspired by the Sunday dinner-table-stories her father would relate about their family history and she vowed to pass them on. “Captive Bride” is the result.

Marjorie Hersom, in her first work, chose to unravel a love story from the not-so-long-ago historical encounter of Nathaniel Savory a twenty-two year old adventurer from a small town in Massachusetts and Maria a beautiful fifteen year old girl from the island of Guam.

With utter superiority in narrating the tale of love between Maria and Nathaniel the author captures the heart of the longing and wanting ladies and love-inspired individuals into the journey endured with the character’s naivety, smartness, practicality, common sense and sincerity whose beautiful remnants stands up to this generation.

“Captive Bride” illustrates the inner characteristic of every woman, a mixture of naivety, bravery and determination as embodied by the main character, Maria, who today becomes the author’s great-great-grandmother. Maria, at age fifteen, had been tricked to board a merchant ship and held as it sailed for several days to a faraway island unfamiliar to Maria. “Captive Bride” is a true story of survival, of faith, and eventually of love and marriage. This is just what modern day couples need in marriage to love and comfort each other during trying times.

“Captive Bride” will be displayed at the upcoming 2018 New York Rights Fair on May 30, 2018. Be part of this remarkable book fair.
