Win a Meal for Two at Shoryu Ramen

An early Christmas present for ramen lovers of all stripes in the ‘city of dreaming spires’, Shoryu Ramen Oxford opened its doors. Combining a rich heritage with modern lifestyle, just like Shoryu Ramen, Oxford is the perfect location for Shoryu’s second venture outside London.

Shoryu Oxford brings the taste of authentic ramen noodles to Oxford’s newly expanded Westgate Shopping Centre smackbang in the centre of town, feeding students, residents and tourists alike its signature brand of Hakata tonkotsu ramen. For those who are not yet fully acquainted with Shoryu’s particular style of ramen, it comes floating in rich tonkotsu pork broth which has been simmered for twelve hours and is crowned with a variety of authentic toppings, including char siu barbecue pork belly, soft-boiled egg, chopped spring onions, sesame seed, nori seaweed and more.

Those with prior experience of dining in at Shoryu will be pleased to see their firm favourites present and correct on the new Oxford branch’s menu - take your pick from among the following and more: Shoryu Ganso Tonkotsu, Shoryu’s signature ramen with fried shallots; White Natural vegan ramen with atsuage fried tofu, kikurage mushrooms, and menma bamboo shoots; Miso Wafu Chicken with kikurage mushrooms and goosnargh chicken karaage; and Curry Ramen with soft-boiled egg, goosnargh chicken karaage, naruto fish cake and menma bamboo shoots in curry-soy pork broth.

As well as Shoryu’s trademark Hakata ramen, Shoryu Oxford also serves an abundance of other satisfying Japanese treats, from Soft Shell Crab Tempura and Black Sesame Tofu with sweet miso sauce and tenderstem broccoli to Jumbo Hakata Yakitori (chargrilled chicken skewers) and crispy Hakata Tetsunabe Gyoza (see below) - perfect paired with a powerfully refreshing Japanese beer.

With free WiFi and baby high chairs are available, the new Oxford branch is also millennial- and family-friendly. What’s more, there is good news should you wish to prolong the Japanese experience before or after lunch. A giant new Uniqlo and Superdry shop can both be found just around the corner from Shoryu also under the rafters of the Westgate Centre, allowing you to scratch your Japan shopping itch at the same time as satisfying your Japanese food cravings - a real ‘two birds, one stone’ approach.
