Tyner will be delivering 1,000 books to schools around the globe, beginning in her hometown of St. Paul, MN and ending with a special visit to schools in Ghana. Written by Tyner in association with Jacklyn Milton and illustrated by Jeremy Norton, the children’s book utilizes real life examples of powerful leaders throughout history to highlight the importance of education, social change and the benefits of diversity.

All proceeds from the sale of the book will be used to further the work of Planting People Growing Justice Leadership Institute (PPGJLI), a Minnesota based nonprofit that provides a platform for the initiation of social change, cultivation of collective leadership, and promotion of public policy advocacy. The book utilizes real life examples that highlight the contributions of powerful leaders throughout history and their personal journeys that resulted in change in the law and public policy that continues to reverberate through society today.

The book tells the story of a girl named Justice whose grandmother reminded her that being named Justice came with great responsibility. “It is said that you cannot be what you cannot see,” said Justice Alan C. About the Author:
Dr. Artika R. Tyner is a passionate educator, author, sought after speaker, and advocate for justice. At the University of St. Thomas, Dr. Tyner serves as the Associate Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion. She is committed to training students to serve as social engineers who create new inroads to justice and freedom.

Dr. Tyner is committed to empowering others to lead within their respective spheres of influence. She provides leadership development and career coaching for young professionals. She has also developed leadership educational materials for K-12 students, college/graduate students, faith communities and nonprofits. Additionally, Dr. Tyner teaches leadership coursework on ethics, critical reflection, and organizational development.
