Unique Children’s Book for Young Writers Released

Would you believe that pictures could be used as a starting point in writing for fledgling writers, particularly children? Elsie S. Wilmerding has released a children’s book that promotes the use of pictures in honing their writing skills. Her book, Write about Me, will certainly help your kids convert their bright ideas into powerful words.

In order to achieve this purpose, this book contains large spaces for drawing, as well as steps that guide young writers to add specifics to their writing and make content area connections. Among its features include drawing, mapping, and listing exercises and strategies; activities and illustrations that focus on young students’ lives; thematic word blanks for detailed writing; and common introductory science and social studies units.

About the Author

Elsie S. Wilmerding is a holder of a BA degree in English and a language therapist certificate based on the Orton-Gillingham method. She has served as a teacher in middle schools in the Boston area at the Fenn School, Park School, and Brimmer and May since 1985. She has also worked as a tutor for over fifteen years. Recently, Wilmerding has focused on writing, reading, and spelling in elementary grades.
