The Elizabeth Hospice is the proud recipient of a $30,000 grant from the Ellen Browning Scripps Foundation to benefit children and families experiencing the loss of a loved one. As one of only a few hospice programs nationwide that provide specialized grief services for children and families with infants, The Elizabeth Hospice programs are available to everyone in the community. The Elizabeth Hospice would like to acknowledge Doug Dawson and all the trustees of the Ellen Browning Scripps Foundation for their generous donation.

“This generous gift from The Ellen Browning Scripps Foundation ensures that those grieving the loss of a loved one in our community will have access to quality bereavement support services,” said Jan Jones, President and CEO of The Elizabeth Hospice. “We are honored to provide services that help to promote quality of life at every stage of life and we are fortunate that our doors are open to all who need our services regardless of their ability to pay.”

“We are pleased to invest in the exceptional care that The Elizabeth Hospice provides to adults and children impacted by illness, grief and loss,” said Doug Dawson, Executive Director of The Ellen Browning Scripps Foundation. “The grief support services reflect Miss Ellen’s belief that, ‘The most important and beautiful gift one human being can give to another is, in some way, to make life a little better to live.’ ”
