A Conspiracy Against a New Space Weaponry

Project Intrepid centers on the KGB and an underground society of scientists who are against space weapons. These groups act through a conspiracy to stop the launch of a space shuttle, suspected of carrying a powerful weapon into space.

The weapon set to use satellite imagery is to be launched by the Air Force space program, which is approved by the newly elected president. This new space weapon is neither biological, chemical, nor nuclear, and it does not violate any treaties. It can, however, detect and wipe out all strategic targets, even ballistic missile submarines and hardened missile silos. The shuttle was destroyed by electronic signals when a spy on the National Security Advisor’s staff leaks some data to the KGB and the scientists.

James Clayton Welch served as a military officer, an intelligence operative, a NASA scientist, and a writer. He obtained a master’s degree in astronautics and a doctorate in astrophysics.  James is the author of one novel and several technical books.
