Just Like Magic, School Children Help Sick Kids

Almost as fast as you can say “Abra-KID-Abra,” the students at St. Joseph Catholic School, 311 Dewey Ave., Alice, TX, raised some very welcome money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and each got a cool magical souvenir in the process.

Ventriloquist and comedy magician Joe Libby, who lives in San Antonio, presented his CAUSES FOR LAUGHTER family show at St. Joseph on April 13, 2016, to help the school raise money for the its library and for St. Joseph Seminary in Louisiana. But in addition to helping these worthwhile causes, it also raised some funds and awareness for kids who suffer from cystic fibrosis.

“I am so excited with the results of this family-friendly program,” says Libby. “CAUSES FOR LAUGHTER is a program designed to motivate and inspire elementary-age students while financially benefiting the schools. But at the show, I also sell a pocket-sized magic tricks booklet as a souvenir. It only costs $1.00, but I let the audience know that that money goes directly to the CF Foundation.”

“This is an awesome idea,” says Hugh Farr, Executive Director of the Lone Star Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. “It makes the point with the kids that even a small amount, like a dollar, can make a difference for our organization.”
