Learn more about American history, particularly the contested expansion of the Western United States in the nineteenth century, This Land Is Mine! A Story of Crazy Horse and George A. Custer is a great read.
Written by Elsie S. Wilmerding, it tells the story of George Armstrong Custer of the United States Seventh Cavalry and Crazy Horse of the Native American Lakota tribe, two brave and passionate leaders coming from very different cultures. Ambitious Custer, having attended West Point Military Academy, successfully advanced his military career in spite of some misdeeds. On the other hand, Crazy Horse taught himself the strategies of warfare by studying animals and following native practices. This enthralling story ends with an armed engagement of Crazy Horse and the Native American warriors with Custer’s Seventh Cavalry at the Battle of the Little Big Horn to fight for the land.
Wilmerding’s book was displayed at the London Book Fair 2016 from April 12 to 14 in Olympia, London.
