AirCard® 580 Mobile Solution Judged Best in Non-Profit Organization Category

September 13, 2006 - LOS ANGELES – Zumasys and Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ: SWIRTSX: SW) congratulate Verde Valley Guidance Clinic for being honored as a 2006 3G A-List™ Award winner. Now in its fourth year, the QUALCOMM-sponsored awards program is designed to recognize innovative and successful enterprise wireless data solutions based on third-generation (3G) CDMA standards. During CTIA Wireless I.T.® & Entertainment 2006 in Los Angeles, Verde Valley Guidance Clinic was honored with the 3G A-List Award in the Non-Profit Organizations category for its rollout of Citrix Presentation Server and wireless-enabled clients to the agency’s mobile clinical workforce.

“The ability for our clinical staff to access client information and to document services provided to clients at virtually any location has revolutionized how we view the delivery of behavioral health services,” says Robert Cartia, CEO, Verde Valley Guidance Clinic. “Zumasys’ ability to bring together multiple vendor technologies to accomplish this goal was integral to the process and we are very pleased with our partnership.”

Based in Cottonwood, Arizona, Verde Valley Guidance Clinic was looking to replace manual charts with real-time data collection via CMHC, a UNIX-based application that is instrumental in the delivery of behavioral healthcare, public healthcare, and substance abuse treatment. After meeting Zumasys at their Wireless Technology Seminar in Spring 2005, the two companies worked together to deploy a 100-user Citrix Presentation Server 4.0 environment that provides secure, browser-based access to CMHC. Zumasys also installed Televantage, a software-based phone system with call forwarding and follow me features; MS Exchange 2003 for email and collaboration; and Microsoft Office Communicator for secure internal Instant Messaging—the result is a complete mobile desktop that can be accessed from anywhere via Citrix and 3G Wireless.

“Citrix provides flexible access to connect people to applications and information from any location and we see Zumasys’ 3G Wireless solutions as a natural extension of this architecture,” said Bill Burley, AVP North American Channel Sales for Citrix Systems. “We are delighted to see the Citrix Access Platform solving real business problems for Verde Valley Guidance Clinic and we are pleased to congratulate them on their success.”

Clinicians in the field and other administrative staff rely on the system to access electronic health records and other corporate systems in real time, utilizing Sierra Wireless AirCard® 580 wireless wide-area network cards with Verizon Wireless’ Broadband Access (CDMA2000®/EV-DO). The AirCards are deployed in a combination of touch screen Panasonic Toughbook T2s and Neoware Maxbook embedded XP notebooks, which allow the clinicians to provide and document services in the field rather than at an office site.

“The ability of Verde Valley Guidance Clinic to access records in real time, and the resulting benefits to the Clinic’s patients, are an exemplary example of what 3G wireless can do for an organization,” said Dan Schieler, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Sierra Wireless. “We are pleased that the AirCard 580 played a role in this innovative solution, and congratulate Verde Valley Guidance Clinic on their well-deserved award.”

“It is exciting when QUALCOMM is able to celebrate and recognize successful, real-world deployments of 3G CDMA devices and services that truly exemplify what is possible for businesses using this technology, and Verde Valley Guidance Clinic’s deployment of EV-DO is well-deserving of this year’s A-List Award for non-profit organizations,” said Kristin Taylor, Senior Director of enterprise business development for QUALCOMM. “All of the winners stand out as true innovators in their use of mobility to enhance their business strategies.”

The annual 3G A-List Awards honor outstanding wireless implementations that demonstrate creativity and innovation, overall business impact and how the winning company or organization exceeded business objectives by introducing higher return on investment, lower operating expenses or increased user satisfaction. Last year, QUALCOMM recognized nine companies as award winners for their successful deployment of 3G CDMA-based mobile enterprise solutions.
