Finding Healing Paths and Inspiration in a Book
Janice Weinheimer Recounts Her Journey to Surviving Sexual Abuse and Recovering from the Past
Among the philosophies found in the book, the author stressed that forgiving any and all who had caused her grief and trauma is crucial in the process of healing.
Most people believe that by forgetting their past and burying their memories will eventually lead them to a new life. However, they fail to recognize the dangers when those memories resurface. Author Janice Weinheimer, an emotional healing therapy practitioner, has gone through the same haunting experience.
The Illness That Healed Me is a memoir rooted from Weinheimer’s childhood experience as a subject of sexual abuse. It is a story of her sudden and mysterious illness which paradoxically led to retrieving lost memories of sexual abuse in childhood, to discovering healing paths, and to dealing with the impact of the traumatic experience she had in her life.
Among the philosophies found in the book, the author stressed that forgiving any and all who had caused her grief and trauma is crucial in the process of healing. She further embossed forgiveness as a trait and quality of our divine character. “So we don’t have to work at being forgiving.
We simply leave the world of offenses behind and go within to where love and charity reside. We give forgiveness because we are forgiveness. It’s not something we do.”
Her intense desire to be of help to those who have been sexually abused inspired her to shed light on the path of recovery. She hopes that readers will get enlightened with the path she followed in pursuit of peace. She remarked, “My path didn’t have a finish line. It is one that I continue to tread on and from which I continue to learn. I discovered healing is a journey rather than an experience.”
The Illness That Healed Me was featured at the 2015 Frankfurt Book Fair held last October 14-18, 2015 at the Frankfurt Trade Fair grounds in Frankfurt, Germany.
