Silfra diving: Arctic diving adventure in Iceland

The crystal-clear glacial water that fills Silfra begins at nearby glacier Langjökull, and takes up to 100 years to slowly filter through 50 km of underground lava fields to finally arrive in the subterranean wells of Lake Thingvallavatn. With spectacular visibility at over 100 meters, the water refracts the light similarly to crystals, creating underwater rainbows that reflect on the lava rocks and green algae below.

For recreational divers and snorkelers, the clarity of the water offers a unique visual experience, and at a constant temperature of 2-4° C, it provides for a deliciously refreshing drink as well.
