Mission-Driven, Social Selling Pioneer Legacy Republic Acquires Photo Management Startup Yarly

On track to grow its footprint of Legacy Makers, Legacy Republic makes its first acquisition to power the preservation of family memories

Santa Clara, CA – WEBWIRE

Legacy Republic, the only mission-driven company combining the power of social selling with creating digital family legacies as told via personal videos and photo albums, today announced it has acquired Yarly, the only photo management platform sold via local, certified photo experts.

As part of the acquisition, Yarly CEO and founder Allison Strouse will join Legacy Republic and its parent company YesVideo, the global leader in digitizing and sharing personal videos used by over 8 million families, as an executive advisor. In addition, Yarly Partners will have a special opportunity to join Legacy Republic as trained media digitization consultants also known as Legacy Makers.

Founded in October 2014 with $6 million in funding and additional operational support from YesVideo, Legacy Republic gives micro-entrepreneurs with a passion for family history the opportunity to work with individuals in their local community to turn family videotapes, film, images and photo albums into DVDs and a private online account to watch, share and preserve for generations.

Built on the idea of fostering authentic relationships surrounding a common problem, the social selling market has exploded within the last few years. According to a study by Frost and Sullivan, 90 million households are storing video and photo album memories on old formats, which are currently at risk of loss, damage and deterioration.“This acquisition is the first for Legacy Republic as we’re making great strides in growing Legacy Republic into a leading social selling enterprise facing a $50 billion market opportunity, one which we are exclusively positioned to capitalize on,” says Head of Legacy Republic and Chief Revenue Officer Brian Knapp.

Yarly, founded in November 2012 by Allison Strouse in New York City, is a cross-platform photo storage solution that leverages the skills of professional memory keepers, family historians and photographers around the country, also known as Yarly Partners, to apply their entrepreneurial passion to scan, organize and retouch photos. The team also includes technical co-founders Joseph Rall, Kevin Prudente and Joshua Quintus.

“Building Yarly has been nothing short of a dream and it’s exhilarating to have the opportunity to now work alongside the leaders in photo preservation and fulfill our memory preservation and micro-entrepreneurial mission,” says CEO and Founder of Yarly Allison Strouse.

The terms of the deal are undisclosed.
