Mighty Spartan Goes on Common Man Adventures

Edmond P. DeRousse’s hero Pete Russey leaves his town without stepping foot outside his backyard.

Atlanta, Georgia – WEBWIRE

Pete encounters fascinating things like a giant man-eating spider, Hell’s Angels, and even his own wife.

Retired educator, soldier, and Boy Scouts of America executive Edmond P. DeRousse published his new book, “The Mighty Spartan and his common man adventures,” which tells the story of Pete Russey, an ordinary man living an ordinary life in a small Southern Illinois town. But life happens (and so do his adventures). Pete encounters fascinating things like a giant man-eating spider, Hell’s Angels, and even his own wife. He, like the ancient Spartan warrior, picks up his shield, brandishes his sword, and battles whatever his modern day life throws at him.

“His adventures are entertaining,” said DeRousse. “You will experience frightening journeys, some warm and fuzzies, mysteries, and even romantic encounters. I make two guarantees. Everyone can identify with something in it and will get a chuckle or two. I also believe those who will read it will be able to escape from all the negativity around them. It is pure entertainment. Readers don’t have to strain the brain. No thinking about, ‘Who had done it, why, or how?’ It’s meant to be a fun read.”

And what a fun read it truly is. Readers of DeRousse’s new book include Charles Kelley, the mayor of Sparta, Illinois, who said, “This book certainly captures the feel of our community. The author expresses our values, traditions, and progress with humor and an easy going style. He invites his readers into our community knowing they will identify with something in it. For an insight into what it is like living in Sparta, Illinois, check out ‘The Mighty Spartan and his common man adventures’.”

Writer and journalist Georgeann S. Henderson has this to say about Pete Russey: “Pete Russey is The Mighty Spartan, and mighty he is. His life adventures have taken him everywhere exciting… Call Pete a Mighty Warrior because he’s a man defined about who he is – armed with attitude and confidence to tackle whatever comes his way. Whether it’s ‘flying like Superman’, ‘solving the Mona Lisa Smile’, ‘resolving a conflict with an old diary’, or ‘confronting the ghost of Mad Myrtle’, Pete is fearless. Of course, his ingenuity and a little bit of luck always help too!”

With its easy language and relatable hero, readers will surely enjoy “The Mighty Spartan and his common man adventures.”
