KCTS 9 Partners with Northwest Folklife to Broadcast and Share Local Content

Seattle, WA, USA – WEBWIRE

Today, KCTS 9 Digital Studios and Northwest Folklife are pleased to announce a local content partnership. KCTS 9 will share “Meet Your Neighbors” stories that showcase how artists are connected to the Northwest Folklife Festival, their local communities and the greater Pacific Northwest.

“The Northwest Folklife Festival does an outstanding job of celebrating the musical and artistic traditions of the Pacific Northwest,” said Robert I. Dunlop, KCTS 9 President and CEO.  “The ’Meet Your Neighbors’ series created by local storytellers shares the spirit of the individual artists and the unique cultural heritage they represent. We are proud to amplify their reach with our digital and broadcast channels.”

As part of their ongoing commitment to community engagement, KCTS 9 will sponsor two stages at the festival - the Bagley Wright Theatre and the Cornish Playhouse.

“We are excited to deepen our partnership with KCTS 9,” commented Robert Townsend, Executive Director of Northwest Folklife. “Their commitment to free access to the arts for everyone makes this collaboration a natural one, and this series will allow even more community members to take part in the evolving traditions of the Pacific Northwest.”

The Northwest Folklife Festival takes place Memorial Day Weekend, May 22 – 25, 2015 at the Seattle Center.

About Northwest Folklife Festival
The annual Northwest Folklife Festival is the largest community-powered arts and culture festival in the United States. Drawing nearly 250,000 people over just four days, Northwest Folklife has programmed over 5,000 performers from more than 65 different genres of music, from Hawaiian to Hip-Hop and dance performances representing cultures from Ireland to India. We believe everyone is a bearer of folk arts, and we encourage communities to share their cultural traditions, in the hope that interaction with new audiences will enrich the community as much as the audience.
