Seagate Hosts Forum in Taiwan on Maximizing Data Management

TAIPEI, Taiwan—06 September 2006— Seagate Technology (NYSE: STX), the world’s leading supplier of hard disc drives, will host a forum on the subject: Mission Control - Maximizing Data Management, on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 in Taipei and on Friday, September 15, 2006 in Kaohsiung. These forums, targeted at system integrators and value added resellers (VARs), will educate channel partners about the diverse applications for which multi-drive, high capacity systems featuring Seagate Barracuda ES hard drives are suitable.

The 7200-RPM Barracuda ES delivers increased reliability and features Rotational Vibration Feed Forward (RVFF) technology to sustain performance when placed in closely packed multi-drive system environments. Engineered to deliver the best Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) rating possible, Seagate has also added Workload Management, a feature that helps protect the hard drive when thermal temperatures begin rising due to sustained heavy workloads, helping to keep drives and systems cool, increasing the reliability and longevity of the Barracuda ES drive.

The Barracuda ES drive is offered in a 3Gbit Serial ATA (SATA) version that includes Native Command Queuing (NCQ) and 8/16MB cache. With best-in-class storage density using perpendicular recording technology, the Barracuda ES drive is offered in capacities of 250, 400, 500, and 750GB. The Barracuda ES drive is also available in a 2Gbit FC version in capacities of 400 and 500GB.
