KCTS 9 to Provide Local Digital and Television Content for Seattle International Film Festival Fans

Seattle, Washington – WEBWIRE

KCTS 9 and the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) today announced a partnership that will bring more local content to indie film lovers across Washington state and Canada throughout the run of the festival that begins this Thursday, May 14 and runs through Sunday, June 7. For the first time, KCTS 9 will provide local video content about SIFF that will air on KCTS 9 and on SIFF’s website.

“We love independent film and we are very excited to partner with SIFF to celebrate and honor indie filmmakers in the Northwest,” said Robert I. Dunlop, President and CEO of KCTS 9. “This is one of many initiatives KCTS 9 will take to increase our involvement with the regional film community. We believe strongly in the power of film to make a positive difference in people’s lives, and what better way to honor indie films and our filmmakers than by providing local content for the region’s biggest film celebration.”

Audiences will be treated to an inside look at what it takes to organize and run the largest and most highly attended festival in the country—from behind the scenes content to interviews with the biggest international filmmakers, directors and actors, to the Northwest’s most gifted filmmakers whose work will be featured.

“Having KCTS 9 as our partner means film lovers will get to experience up close what makes our festival so special, with stories from all over the world that might otherwise go untold,” said Mary Bacarella, SIFF’s Managing Director. “Together, SIFF and KCTS 9 will celebrate local films and our incredible film community for Festival 2015 and beyond.”

In addition to these featured stories, KCTS 9 will help guide viewers with “What to Watch” - a series that will air on TV and at KCTS9.org. Hosting the SIFF/KCTS 9 video series will be Jenni Hogan, award-winning local journalist-turned-entrepreneur, and nationally recognized social media visionary.

“For more than 60 years, KCTS 9 has been providing the community with the highest quality programming that educates and entertains,” said Dunlop. “Our aim is to increase the amount of local content we create, and this partnership is a perfect example of how audiences will enjoy SIFF feature content wherever they want to watch it . . . whether on their phones, tablets, or TV"

Local content will be provided by KCTS 9 Digital Studios.
