Logic PD Presenting Big Data Case Study at IoT Fuse Event

CTO to discuss creating recurring revenue with IoT for Geissler Corporation at University of Minnesota forum

Minneapolis, MN – WEBWIRE

Logic PD, a product innovation and realization company for connected devices, will share a case study of its IoT project with Geissler Corporation at IoT Fuse on March 19 from 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. at the University of Minnesota. In the presentation entitled “Leveraging Big Data to Create the Subscription Business for Recurring Revenue: A Cow’s Story,” Logic PD Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Scott Nelson, will explore the development of the Whisper® Veterinary Stethoscope from both a technology and a business model perspective.

“It’s one thing to talk about the value of IoT but this show gives us the opportunity to show it in action,” said Nelson. “What started out as a medical device has morphed into a connected business which has drastically reduced cattle death and lessened the economic impact of Bovine Respiratory Disease (BRD). Discussing our work with Geissler will give attendees a real-world example of how the Internet of Things model can create another revenue stream and prove its real-world value.”

Whisper is a connected stethoscope that helps veterinarians more accurately and effectively diagnose and treat BRD by transmitting the lung sounds of animals to a cloud database of diagnostic and treatment information to classify the animal’s condition from acute to chronic, all within eight seconds.

In his presentation, Nelson will discuss how Logic PD helped Geissler take the stethoscope from a diagnostic device to a successful connected business by leveraging big data and implementing a new, subscription-based business model. Leveraging IoT allowed Geissler to garner more profitability from the devices while also helping customers improve BRD diagnosis and treatment.
