Dell Adds Missing Lync to Cloud-based Email Archive and Discovery

WEBWIRE

• New Instant Message Archiving capability for Dell EMS provides a single repository and unified search for both email and Microsoft Lync messages, including attachments
• New message tagging capabilities allow users to search through thousands of emails and instant messages simultaneously and tag results to quickly narrow down and bundle relevant documentation in a matter of seconds
• The combination of broader communication search capabilities plus extracts that are focused on the best search results significantly reduces litigation expenses

Dell Software today announced the newest release of Dell EMS Email Archive and eDiscovery, a SaaS-based solution that features new instant message archiving for Microsoft Lync, as well as message tagging, a powerful new reviewer search feature that allows businesses — especially legal departments — to quickly and easily identify, collect and extract emails required for litigation and forensic investigative purposes.

New instant messaging (IM) archiving capabilities ensure IM communications between multiple internal users and external constituents are securely archived and discoverable. This new feature allows users to effectively and easily archive Microsoft Lync IM (soon to be called Skype for Business) conversations and content via a single search interface that improves discovery workers’ productivity by delivering complete and reliable IM search results alongside email and file content. Message tagging simplifies the eDiscovery process by allowing reviewers to select relevant messages from multiple searches and save or extract those messages for further processing.

IT organizations must track billions of messages, know where they are, ensure they are secure, retrieve them as required, and eventually purge them on schedule. When these emails and instant messages do become the subject of a discovery request, as part of a legal or regulatory process, the legal costs for processing search results can be substantial, especially given the use of law firms and other businesses that bill by the hour. It’s in the organization’s interests to use the best available tools to identify, group, and extract email messages.

Fortunately, the Dell solution reduces this complexity with the ability to archive thousands of emails, instant messaging conversations and content, and uncover priority documentation within seconds. This unmatched capability significantly reduces the time and manpower costs of finding relevant documentation for litigation, and ensures that only the messages needed are exported.

Dell EMS ensures IM communications are archived and discoverable

Today, more organizations rely on Microsoft Lync for communication with internal business constituents and external customers. This peer-to-peer chat platform is fast becoming as ubiquitous as email in the business environment. Dell EMS with IM archiving enables users to effectively archive IM conversations and content while meeting security and compliance requirements that reduce risk to the business. Archived content includes peer-to-peer instant messages, multiparty instant messages, and transferred files. All instant message content is stored in the same archive as email content, allowing the reviewer to search through vast amounts of both email and IM documentation simultaneously, and tag relevant content.

Dell EMS simplifies eDiscovery with message tagging

Dell EMS Archive and eDiscovery is a robust SaaS solution that simplifies eDiscovery with powerful message tagging. Reviewers can more quickly and accurately narrow down search results, and create a minimal set of relevant documentation for export and further analysis. For the legal community, this is particularly beneficial when dealing with multiple simultaneous litigation activities. Reviewers can quickly produce more compact and relevant results for litigation attorneys, in turn significantly reducing costs typically associated with analyzing large amounts of legal documentation. The solution is part of the Dell Email Management Services (EMS) suite of cloud-based services that address many of the common challenges with email — including protecting email from outages and security threats — while simultaneously archiving email and attachments for eDiscovery and storage management purposes. Dell’s SaaS portfolio provides easy-to-deploy, scalable solutions leveraging the cloud as a delivery vehicle so customers no longer have to manage complex systems and infrastructure in-house.

Dell EMS Email Archiving and eDiscovery provides powerful search capabilities with results in seconds.  It allows for flexible retention policy compliance and comprehensive storage management, and ensures fast, seamless end-user access.  New features in the latest release of Dell EMS Email Archiving and eDiscovery include:
• The ability to effectively archive and retrieve Microsoft Lync IM conversations and content in minutes, and ensure IM compliance and discovery requirements are met, ultimately reducing the risk and cost associated with eDiscovery compliance
• The ability to create and manage tags — either in advance or on-the-fly — that can be associated with particular legal or compliance activities
• The ability to execute searches and use those tags on individual email messages or entire search results
• The ability to quickly bundle up the minimal set of search results, based on associated tags, for export and further analysis
