Greenberg Traurig’s Michael G. Cooke moderating panel at 42nd Annual Public Utility Research Center Conference

TAMPA, Fla. – WEBWIRE

Michael G. Cooke, an attorney in the Tampa Environmental Practice of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A. will participate in the 42nd annual Public Utility Research Center (PURC) Conference. The conference will be held at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.

Cooke will moderate a panel entitled “In a Carbon Constrained World,” which will focus on how utility services in Florida will be affected by carbon emissions rules and examine the ongoing efforts surrounding renewable energy in Florida.

“The PURC conference is an ideal forum to discuss the multiple challenges that climate change and other regulatory policies present to utility companies,” said Cooke. “The event brings together many of the key stakeholders and decision makers, to discuss and develop appropriate strategies for addressing these issues going forward.”

PURC’s annual conference serves as a neutral forum for engaging in a dialogue about the issues facing utility service providers, policymakers and regulatory agencies, and brings together leaders in industry and academia, primarily from Florida and the Southeast.

At Greenberg Traurig, Cooke concentrates his practice in administrative law, including environmental, utility and land use law. He represents industrial, agricultural, banking, government, and developer clients on matters involving clean air, climate change, electric generating facilities, renewable energy, telecommunications, utility plant and transmission line siting, water and wastewater issues.
