“Pure drinking water is taken for granted,” says Rich Davis, founder of the Pure H2O Project

Multidisciplinary artist, Helmut Smits, of the Netherlands, has drawn global attention to the absurdity that in some countries the soft drink, Coca-Cola, is easier to come by than safe drinking water. Smits accomplished this by building a contraption that filters the “dirty brown water” in to clear drinking water. It was part of the “Sense Nonsense” exhibition unveiled at Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven, Holland.

“A machine that filters Coca-Cola into pure drinking water suddenly makes a lot of sense in a world in which drinking water can be harder to come by than the multinational soft drink,” exhibit co-curator Thomas Widdershoven told online design magazine Dezeen.

“Pure drinking water is taken for granted,” says Rich Davis, founder of the Pure H2O Project, an organization created to secure universal access to truly pure water for Americans.

“….even the diet coke we’ve tested was positive for higher than expected levels of fluoride.” said Davis.

The Pure H2O Project let’s people use their high tech water testing systems for free in order to educate them about the harmful additives, and environmental toxins that so many are unaware even exist.
