ITT CEO and President Denise Ramos Receives Distinguished Leadership Award from New York Hall of Science

White Plains, NY – WEBWIRE

ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT) is pleased to announce that Chief Executive Officer and President Denise Ramos received the New York Hall of Science (NYSCI) Distinguished Leadership Award at NYSCI’s annual gala in New York City Tuesday. The award is presented annually to a leader in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) for transformation, ingenuity and excellence.

"On behalf of everyone at ITT, I am honored to be recognized by the New York Hall of Science, an organization with such a strong commitment to the advancement of STEM education" Ramos said. "STEM education opens the door to help solve the world’s most pressing challenges. It encourages people to think big and to pursue new ideas, and it allows a company like ITT to develop new, practical solutions that impact all of our lives.

"At ITT, we are constantly looking for ways to engage and empower the next generation of engineering talent – and organizations like NYSCI are critical to encouraging creativity, building excitement and developing our next generation of leaders"

The event marked NYSCI’s 50th anniversary. Founded in conjunction with the 1964-1965 World’s Fair, NYSCI has evolved into New York’s premiere center for interactive science, serving a half million students, teachers, and families each year. NYSCI offers professional development for teachers, produces curricula and resources for classrooms, and studies how technology, gaming and play affect how we learn.

"We are honoring Denise because she is a leader who is passionate about supporting young people in the STEM fields" said Dr. Margaret Honey, President and CEO of NYSCI. "She is at her core, a real problem solver, and she leads a company that is doing cutting edge engineering work around the world"

The event also honored Jeanne M. Sullivan, co-founder of StarVest Partners, for her commitment to promoting achievements in science and technology, and celebrated the life and work of Alan Freidman, former president of NYSCI.
