BT Sport overtakes Sky Sports in pubs

WEBWIRE

Today BT Sport has announced that over 24,000 commercial premises have taken its sports service, and that in the pubs market alone 30%[1] of pubs now subscribe to BT Sport.

A combination of great live sporting action including the Barclays Premier League, Aviva Premiership Rugby and the new European Rugby Champions Cup, together with affordable pricing and marketing support means that independent research now shows that BT

Sport is in more pubs than Sky[1]. BT Sport has successfully grown the market for premium sport by 26% bringing thousands of new pubs into the market for live sport.

Bruce Cuthbert, Director Commercial Customers, said: “For BT Sport to have become an established feature of so many businesses in just 15 months is a tremendous achievement and reflects our underlying desire to show premium sports without the premium price. To overtake Sky who have been in this market for 20 years, in our second season, is astonishing.”

“Pubs and hotels up and down the country that were previously priced out of the market are now able to offer their customers access to some of the best live sporting action, without having to change their core customer offer. From August 2015, BT Sport will offer exclusively live midweek, top flight football action from the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League, which will help our customers drive even more business throughout the week.”

BT Sport is available to all commercial premises including offices, golf clubs, sporting clubs, bookmakers and Corca registered clubs with prices starting from as little as £62 per month.

The BT Sport Pack includes BT Sport 1 and BT Sport 2, as well as ESPN, all available in both standard definition and high definition.

BT Sport is delivered to commercial premises via satellite technology, so that any business with Sky equipment just has to call BT to add BT Sport to their line-up. BT will also facilitate a third party standard installation for customers who do not already have Sky equipment on their premises, at no extra charge. There is no need to take BT broadband or BT TV as the channels are delivered via satellite.

BT’s dedicated UK-based call centre can help commercial customers with all of their BT Sport queries. Customers can find out more by calling 0800 678 1957 or visiting: www.btsportbusiness.com.
