Asbestos Removal Begins at Reputed Haunted House in Clovis

Last month, The Fresno Bee published an article that asbestos removal had begun in a famous property in Clovis, California. The work began at Wolfe Manor, a former sanitarium that has been featured in a number of television shows and is reputed to be haunted.

Several years ago, the city designated the house as unsafe to occupy before declaring it a nuisance and danger with 22 building code violations according to the article.  Once the property has been cleared of asbestos and any other hazardous materials, it is scheduled to be demolished.

Renovation, remodeling and demolition projects typically generate a significant amount of dust and debris.  Depending on the home, building and type of project, this dust can spread throughout the project area and even onto neighboring properties.  In many older structures, the dust and debris may contain a number of hazardous substances.  These may include asbestos, as is the case in Clovis, or other hazardous materials such as lead, mercury and PCBs.
