Tata Motors’ Commercial Vehicle Division today launched the new Intermediate and Light Commercial Vehicle (ILCV) range of trucks christened ’ULTRA’, which offers superior technology and design that ensures lowest total cost of ownership through higher uptime because of increased driver comfort, superior aggregates and customised requirements.

Launching the all-new Tata ULTRA ILCV range, Mr. Ravi Pisharody, Executive Director, Commercial Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors Ltd., said, “After the world-class range of Prima trucks, we now introduce another global standard of trucks in ILCV segment - the Tata ULTRA trucks. The ULTRA range of commercial vehicles were conceived as a modern platform that will serve the needs of new generation trucks and buses. The Starbus range based on the ULTRA platform was launched in 2011 and has become immensely popular for its aesthetics, passenger and driver comfort, improved NVH, fuel efficiency, resulting in lowest total cost of ownership.

Showcased at the Auto Expo in 2012, the all-new range of ULTRA trucks have been developed keeping customers central to the product development process and the learnings from the Starbus ULTRA buses.

The new Tata ULTRA range of trucks will come in several variants with payload capacity between 5 and 15 tonnes. With its contemporary design, the ULTRA range comes packed with new generation aggregates like the reliable Tata engine, gearbox and clutch and pioneering driver-centric features like disc brakes, radial tyres, spacious world-class cabin, suspended seats, HVAC option.

The all-new range of Tata ULTRA trucks brings in global design that matches aesthetics with enhanced comfort, fuel-efficiency and low cost of ownership to offer the best business proposition to operators. On the interiors, the Tata ULTRA range will come with a world-class hydraulic 45 degree tiltable cabin, which has been designed with elegant and stylish looks, with sufficient storage capacity and features like dash-mounted gear lever, AC provision and a new generation instrument cluster.

The Tata ULTRA truck comes with the strongest chassis in its class with bolted design for increased modularity. The range is equipped with disc brakes for increased safety and tubeless radial tyres (an Industry first) for increased fuel efficiency, besides better road grip and gradual deflation in the event of puncture.

An enhanced power steering system with drooping characteristics enables vehicle stability at high speeds. The Tata ULTRA also comes with a comfortable seating for three, front parabolic suspension for increased comfort, new generation head and tail lamps, integrated with LEDs, which is an industry first in the commercial vehicle segment.

The Tata ULTRA 812 and Tata ULTRA 912 are the first two models from the ULTRA range which will be available across all Authorised Tata Motors Commercial Vehicle dealerships, starting from Rs. 10.53 Lakhs, ex-showroom Chennai for Tata ULTRA 812 and from Rs. 10.94 Lakhs, ex-showroom Chennai, for Tata ULTRA 912.

The ULTRA variants will be available in four colours -- Sardinia Red, Arctic White, Arizona Blue and Yellow.
