"With Kickstarter it’s all or nothing. We have reached 25% of our goal in four days, we still have a long way to go to make this book a reality. Bostonians love their city!" Denise Price

After four years of illustrating, paper engineering and writing, the first Freedom Trail Pop Up Book by Cambridge based author and artist Denise Price has been finished.

With 16 architecturally accurate pop ups, profiles of each of the five historic weathervanes along the trail and written history about landmarks like the USS Constitution; The pop up book is a complete original and the first of its kind! Now the time has come to print and publish the book.

The fundraising campaign, being run through popular crowd-funding platform, Kickstarter has an ambitious $50,000 goal. Price said, “With Kickstarter it’s all or nothing, we still have a long way to go to make this book a reality. Bostonians love their city!” The campaign will run from May 15 through June 30, 2014, and finance the production, publication, and distribution of a limited run of 5,000 books.

This campaign marks the culmination of a four year long journey by Price to make this book a reality.

“When I first travelled to Boston I was excited to walk The Freedom Trail. I became fascinated with Boston’s history and the dedication the City has shown in preserving its landmarks. Toward the end of my trip I searched for a Freedom Trail pop-up book to bring home. When I couldn’t find one, I searched for any Boston pop up book. To my disappointment I found that there were no pop up books about Boston’s sites at all! After moving here, I began to create one.”

The campaign boasts exciting rewards including copies of the book, behind the scenes tours of famous Freedom Trail Sites, and limited edition artwork by Price.

“There is no other place in the United States where you can take in the rich history of America’s Revolution than in Boston. The Freedom Trail Pop Up Book is a true labor of love which has helped me connect to my adopted city as well as explore my passion for paper arts.” View details about the campaign on ThePopUpBook.com or Kickstarter.com
