OSHCR - Helping health & safety advisors be seen so workers can be safe

If you are a health and safety advisor with a speciality or niche, one of the biggest challenges that you might face is finding companies to benefit from your expertise. Thankfully, the Occupational Safety and Health Register is connecting businesses with advisors that have experience in their particular industry.

UK – WEBWIRE

If you are a health and safety consultant with years of experience in any particular industry it pays to join the register so that the businesses that are looking for your services can find them.

This is better for UK businesses, but also better for health and safety advisors too. The question is: can you afford not to register?

The Occupational Safety and Health Register (OSHCR) was established after the government’s Common Sense, Common Safety report outlined the need  for an accredited professional body which would collect information on qualified health and safety consultants and allow the public to contact them via a web based directory. OSCHR is that directory.

Every single health and safety consultant on the Occupational Safety and Health Consultants Register has a degree level qualification and at least two year experience in the job. They must also be actively engaged with an ongoing professional development scheme.

Businesses can browse listings of health and safety advisors by location or by industry; with the peace of mind that all of advisors available have been accredited by approving bodies like the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM), the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH).

Importantly, if you are a health and safety consultant with years of experience in any particular industry, or on any topic, it pays to join the register so that the businesses that are looking for your services can find them.

You might work specifically with the armed forces, or the entertainment and leisure industry. You might even have a specialist topic, like back pain, workplace violence or stress. Whatever your specialist subject, the OSHCR site provides you great visibility from your target demographic.

For John Hughes, of OSHCR, joining the register can give your potential customers the peace of mind that they’re choosing the right consultant.

He said: “OSCHR really is the benchmark for health and safety consultancy and more businesses than ever before are choosing a health and safety consultant by browsing the directory. If you’re absent from the register, you won’t be getting their business.

“If you have a degree qualification, and accreditation from one of the approving bodies, and more than two years experience in the field, it pays to be on the register.”

At OSHCR, companies can search for a consultant by region, industry or topic. They’re certain to find someone who can provide specialist, tailored advice which is relevant to their business needs.
