UK Healthcare Donates £2K to Early Break as Charity Celebrates 20 Years

UK Healthcare has donated £2,000 to Early Break, the young people’s drug and alcohol service, as the charity celebrates its 20th anniversary.

The funds so kindly donated have been pivotal in enabling Early Break to continue to offer work that is crucial for supporting and engaging vulnerable young people in the north west of England.

Early Break offers free counselling, advice and treatment to young people living with drug and alcohol problems, and also their families. From humble beginnings, the North West based organisation has gone on to support the needs of thousands of children and young people in Bury, Rochdale and East Lancashire.

A team of experienced advocacy staff provide advice and support on a wide range of substance misuse related conditions and the additional complexities that people can live with as a result of them.

The donation by UK Healthcare will be used to support the charity’s ongoing evening Outreach Service. This valuable program within the local community reduces the barriers which prevent young people from getting the help that they need to overcome issues with substance abuse.

Part of the donation will also be used to support the Early Break Well Being Fund, a direct financial support “pot”, offering up to £50 per client. The Well Being Fund can support a young person in various ways, from setting up accommodation to accessing a diversionary activity which could help them to beat their addiction.

Victoria Maloney, Chief Executive of Early Break said: “Early Break would like to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to UK Healthcare for their kind donation to our Service. 2014 is a special year as we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Early Break.  We are proud of how we have grown from a simple helpline run by volunteers to an award winning, charitable organisation that provides invaluable interventions.

“But in order to do so, we rely on the generosity of our patrons and businesses like UK Healthcare. The funds so kindly donated have been pivotal in enabling Early Break to continue to offer work that is crucial for supporting and engaging vulnerable young people in the north west of England. We are actively seeking further support and funding to widen our offer of street based work in Rochdale and beyond.”

UK Healthcare specialises in corporate health cash plans which allow plan holders to claim cash back on a wide variety of medical services and healthcare expenses. They also provide personal health cash plans and senior plans. Absenteeism could cost businesses as much as £595 per employee per year, but from just £1 per employee per week, UK businesses could create a healthier, happier workforce. Best of all, setting up a plan or switching could not be simpler to do.

The company also donates thousands of pounds to charities every year. In 2013, UK Healthcare donated more than £100,000 to good causes all over the country and they are well on their way to repeating that feat in 2014.
