Local Businesses Join Together To Support Earth Day And The Community

Local publisher of the award winning Pumpkinheads® series, Nina Charles LLC, with the support of seven community minded companies located in Parkland and Coral Springs, FL, donated one award winning book, Carmin Cares, to every Kindergarten and preschool child enrolled in the three Parkland, FL elementary schools: Park Trails, Heron Heights, and Riverglades.

Carmin Cares is the engaging story about how a little girl gets gum stuck on her shoe and decides something has to be done about the mess on the playground. Through lovable characters and easy to follow rhymes, Carmin Cares teaches young children to take responsibility for their world, proving that even small hands can make a big difference! 

The seven sponsors of the book donation also believe that they can make a difference in their community.  The sponsors of the book donation are: Budget Blinds, Sherry and Steven Gottlieb of RE/MAX, Richard H. Gaines, Esq. of Greenspoon Marder, P.A., British Swim School, Mini-Mouths Dentistry, SHOWTIME Performing Arts Theatre, and Body Heat Tanning.

Sherry and Steve Gottlieb of RE/MAX relocated to Broward County from Chicago in 1979 where they raised their 3 daughters. Sherry began her Real Estate career in 1988 after owning and operating 3 local area decorating stores with Steve, and in 1995, Steve joined Sherry full time in Real Estate as The Gottlieb Group. Sherry and Steve’s knowledge gained from decorating so many homes in Broward & Palm Beach counties has been a huge asset in their success in Real Estate. Being familiar with so many subdivisions, floor plans & architecture of homes in the area has provided them a much better understanding when helping to determine price and comparables for both their buyers and sellers. Mr. Gaines has been a resident of Parkland since 2003.  He has been practicing law in South Florida since 1995, is a shareholder in Greenspoon Marder, P.A., and is AV Rated by Martindale Hubbell.  Mr. Gaines practices primarily in the area of family and matrimonial law, including divorce, paternity, step-parent adoption, prenuptial agreements, domestic violence, alimony and child support enforcement and modification, and child custody/timesharing issues.  Mr. Gaines’ family-related practice also includes Will and Trust disputes, and incapacity and guardianship matters.  

British Swim School has been dedicated to teaching water survival for over 30 years. Their methods are based on teaching beginners of all age groups that the ability to float on their back is the most important water survival skill of all. This enables all swimmers to rest, breath and call for help, thus alleviating the “silent” danger of floating face down. Swim lessons are offered to infants starting from 3 months old up through adults. British Swim School is an elite swimming program that functions year round with two locations in Coral Springs as well as many locations throughout the tri-county region.

Mini-Mouths dentistry is a pediatric dental office established in 2012 on the border of Parkland and Coral Springs on University Drive in the Coral Springs Professional Campus.  Mini-Mouths sees children ages 6 months to 21 years old.  They have an open door policy, and parents are welcome to go back with their children while their children receive care.  Mini-Mouths is not a big corporation, but local owners and who are very active in the community with children who attend one of the recipient elementary schools (Park Trails).  Their office is welcoming and fun, with an attention to personal care and comfort that cannot be beat!

SHOWTIME Performing Arts Theatre is in its 9th season, and brings award winning Children’s Theatre to South Florida.  Well known for their 2pm matinee live musical theatre performances every Saturday from September through May when the SHOWTIME Performing Arts Theatre stage comes to life, they are pleased to serve many area families and their wonderful children who attend acting, music and dance classes, theatre camps and performances.  Auditions are open to the general public. Programs are structured for students of all ages to develop and grow in confidence, poise, and talent through the study of theatrical arts. Marilyn Perry, Executive Director and Producer together with her talented teaching staff is passionate about arts education and, working together, each child develops his or her own potential, in fun and friendship, while learning to share responsibility, develop, respond and create. Keeping “live theatre alive” for future generations is their mission and gift to the community!

Body Heat Tanning was one of the very first tanning salons to open in Coral Springs and the only one that remains open and is still thriving today.
