Dunagan Insurance Group and The Captain Bob Foundation launch initiative to fund Brunswick, GA teen’s fight against Acute Myeloid Leukemia

Touched by 14-year-old Ansley Jones’ story, Dunagan Insurance Group and The Captain Bob Foundation launched an initiative to raise funds for this incredible Brunswick teenager in her fight against acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Calling herself a “tough soldier,” Ansley was diagnosed with AML in October of 2013, but is using her faith, strength and positivity to overcome her struggle.
 
Currently undergoing treatments in Jacksonville, Fla., Ansley’s family travels about 600 miles a week, adding financial hardship during an already difficult time. Moved by her story and eager to help “Ansley’s Army,” Dunagan Insurance Group and The Captain Bob Foundation came together to create a funding initiative through an online fundraising platform, which can be accessed through http://www.gofundme.com/6lfqy0.  
 
According to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, approximately 500 children are diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in the United States each year. This rare form of cancer is diagnosed in about 20 percent of children with leukemia.
 
“The financial strain unexpectedly placed on families when their child is battling an illness adds extra stress during an already stressful time,” said Robert Dunagan, founder of Dunagan Insurance Group. “Through our Foundation and valuable connections with organizations such as the Children In Action Sports Club, we are moved to help children and families in every way we can, bringing the Brunswick community together and making miracles happen.”
 
Robert Dunagan said the amounts raised will help cover fuel and transportation costs. “This way, Ansley’s family will not have to cut their trips short and can stay present in her life while she fights this battle,” he said.
 
The campaign has already reached great success, but the family’s need for help is ongoing, so donations will be kindly welcomed for at least another 45 days.
