Doctor Offers to Help Sochi Journalists Survive Their Hotels

As news emerges about journalists’ problems with their Sochi hotels—some of the issues posing potential health risks—Dr. James Hubbard, aka The Survival Doctor, has published “The Journalists’ Guide to Surviving Sochi” at his popular blog TheSurvivalDoctor.com. He’s also offering to answer any health questions journalists pose in the comments section, no charge.

In the guide, Dr. Hubbard provides tips on how to survive bad water, unsanitary conditions, food poisoning, stray dogs and falls from construction problems.

“If people are having this much of a problem with their hotel rooms, they may also be concerned about other services in the city, such as medical care,” says Dr. Hubbard. “Even if the care is excellent, there could be language barriers or crowded waiting rooms. I thought they might appreciate a friendly place to go for information. Since I focus on what to do when you can’t get to a doctor, I figured I’d be a good source for them"

Dr. Hubbard lives in Colorado Springs, home to the headquarters and flagship training center of the United States Olympic Committee, so the Olympics are of special interest to him. He’ll answer journalists’ questions throughout the Olympic Games.
