Miami – WEBWIRE

International Data Corporation (IDC), the premier global provider of market intelligence, advisory services, and events for the information technology, telecommunications, and consumer technology (ICT) markets, today announced that Ricardo Villate has been promoted to Group Vice President, Latin America and is now the most senior IDC executive in the region. In addition, Villate announced that Jay Gumbiner, Alejandro Florean, and Filomena de Freitas have been named Research, Consulting, and Sales Vice Presidents, respectively, for Latin America.

“As he assumed more responsibility for the region over the past six months, Ricardo clearly demonstrated that he is capable of running a diverse organization,” said Philippe de Marcillac, Executive Vice President, International Business Units, IDC. “We are very happy to have Ricardo leading this important group and we look forward to the results that will follow from his knowledge of the market.”

“As the industry moves toward the Third Platform, built on cloud, mobility, Big Data, and social technologies, our clients will expect IDC to deliver meaningful research and actionable advice that will enable them to succeed in this new era,” said Villate. “During the transition period, I worked closely with our research teams to expand and improve our research, as well as to strengthen our consulting operations. I also focused on selecting the right management team to help carry these changes forward into 2014.”

IDC Latin America’s new management team includes Jay Gumbiner, who was appointed Research Vice President for Latin America. Gumbiner has been with IDC for more than thirteen years. He previously led IDC’s consumer markets research in the region. In his new role, Gumbiner will lead the consumer, enterprise and telecommunications research teams in the region.

Alejandro Florean, also an IDC veteran, was named Vice President of Consulting and Strategy for Latin America. In this role he will continue to expand IDC’s presence in new research areas, including the Third Platform and IT adoption by line of business (LOB) executives.

Filomena de Freitas was appointed Vice President of Sales for Latin America. A 14-year IDC employee, de Freitas has been managing regional sales operations from the Miami headquarters. In her new role, she will also be responsible for the country operations of IDC in the region.
