The Hartwell Foundation Welcomes Russell “Rusty” Hensley as New CEO

Hensley Brings a Strong Background in Law and Operating Companies in a Variety of Industries

The Hartwell Foundation announces Russell “Rusty” Hensley, JD will serve as the foundation’s Chief Executive Officer in charge of overseeing Hartwell’s Missions. Hensley comes with experience in corporate law and has a wealth of knowledge in operating companies.
 
With a focus on private client services, such as venture capital transactions, corporate law, and mergers and acquisitions, Rusty Hensley is a business professional and attorney with more than 30 years of experience in transactional law. With his transactional law practice, Hensley has primarily focused his efforts on operating companies in many different industries throughout the United States.
 
Hensley was on the Board of Directors of Evans Petree, PC law firm and Managing Partner of The Bogatin Law Firm, PLC in Memphis, TN prior to joining the Hartwell Foundation Corporation. He attended the University of Mississippi for his under graduate studies and earned his Juris Doctorate Degree at the University of Memphis’s Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law.
 
The Primary Mission branch of the Hartwell Foundation that Hensley will be overseeing includes many special projects designed to directly benefit the well-being and health of the children of the US. All of Hartwell’s Missions are of equal importance.

The Additional Missions Hensley will oversee include:
•           Helping Children of Family Members Killed in Action – In August of 2011, 17 Navy SEALs died when their helicopter was shot down by insurgents in Afghanistan. So far, the Hartwell Foundation has donated $125,000 to the Navy Seal Foundation to help children of those dead.
•           AMIkids – Through motivating and positive programs that inspire leadership, personal growth, and learning, AMIkids, a nationally-recognized not-for-profit, provides a promising future for over 5,000 children each year. Their programs are enhanced through financial support from the Hartwell Foundation.
•           Other Missions: Land of the Free Foundation, TAPS Good Grief Camps for Children, relief efforts (including Hurricane Katrina), Jonestown Family Center for Education and Wellness, Memphis University School, George Trautman Scholarship at Avon Old Farms School, Rafe Esquith Scholarship and the Hobart Shakespeareans, and TAPS Hartwell Fund for Children of KIA Service Members.
 
In all programs they support, it is the Hartwell Foundation’s purpose to inspire achievement and innovation. They believe philanthropy is a serious responsibility. To do this, they are selective, thorough, and unique. Any recipients of Hartwell funds must use the money responsibly and efficiently. By doing this, they provide those they support with the opportunity to realize their dreams and hopes and to make a difference. Hartwell’s Primary Mission is to provide grant awards to individuals with state of the art and innovative biomedical applied research that is to benefit children.
