George Webb Restaurants has collaborated with Torke Coffee Roasting Company to develop the New George Webb Premium Blend Coffee

Maikel Correa, Executive Chef of George Webb Restaurants, set out to create a delicious new blend for George Webb customers to enjoy. The first step was finding a partner who had the experience to develop a great blend and that they trusted to deliver a consistent product.

“We are committed to sourcing as much as we possibly can locally. Using fresh Wisconsin ingredients is part of our culture and business philosophy. So when it came to choosing a company to roast our new coffee blend we wanted a Wisconsin partner,” said Chef Correa.

George Webb Restaurants chose Torke Coffee Roasting Company. Based in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Torke is a family owned business that started in 1941, only seven years before George Webb and his wife opened their first restaurant on the corner of Ogden and Van Buren Streets in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Chef Correa worked with the roasters and cuppers at Torke Coffee to create a proprietary blend to serve at the restaurants and that could be packaged and offered for sale to their customers. After weeks of collaboration and many hours in the testing room with Torke’s experienced cuppers, Correa and the George Webb team settled on a unique blend for the restaurants.

Today customers can enjoy the new George Webb Premium Blend Coffee at all 31 restaurant locations or purchase a bag to take home. Dining in customers enjoy a bottomless cup and to-go cups are available in three sizes - 12-ounce 16-ounce and 20-ounce. The ground coffee is also available in 14-ounce bags at the restaurants and on line at georgewebb.com.

“Since we’re open 24 hours a day, you can imagine how important a great cup of coffee is to our customers,” offered Ryan Stamm, General Manager and Vice President of George Webb Restaurants. Stamm said that George Webb and Torke Coffee share a common belief that good coffee doesn’t keep customers coming back, great coffee does. He added, “it’s our own twist on a Breakfast roast of 100% Arabica beans, and comes in regular and decaf.”

Torke Coffee maintains that roasting coffee is part art, and part science. At the Sheboygan plant the coffee techniques start with selection the beans, then meticulously roasting them. The next step is cupping coffees in the testing room. Now on their fourth generation of principle cuppers, Torke grinds and brews the coffees in cups to judge their characteristics based on fragrance, aroma, acidity, body, flavor, finish and balance. It was exactly this attention to detail that has made Torke a trusted name in the coffee business.
