Ciber Deploys First Cloud-Based WIC Vendor Portal for the Rhode Island Assistance Program

WEBWIRE

Greenwood Village, Colo. – Ciber has developed and deployed a first-of-its-kind, cloud-based vendor portal for the State of Rhode Island’s Women, Infants and Children (WIC) agency. WIC programs are run by individual states for the U.S. Food & Nutrition Service, a part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Developed in fewer than five months, the system is built on the Salesforce Platform to automate vendor enrollment processes and interface with Rhode Island’s other WIC solutions. Rhode Island also has contracted with Ciber to provide support and maintenance through the first year of the new system’s operations.

The new vendor portal speeds up the application and renewal processes for vendors, who formerly had to download multiple files, fill out paperwork manually and submit applications via mail, followed by manual data entry at a WIC office. Ciber’s solution simplifies this time-consuming process, which is required for vendors to participate in the WIC program.

Ciber’s cloud-based solution also requires no additional infrastructure investment and helps the WIC agency’s budget dollars go further. Plus, the solution is configurable, which means that WIC personnel can make changes to the system without the need for on-site contractors or developers, thereby saving time and operational costs while enhancing service and reducing errors from manual data entry.

“We appreciated that Ciber’s solution covered both the vendor functions and state functions we needed, and it leveraged cloud hosting, which provides a good value for WIC.” said Ann Barone, licensed dietician/nutritionist and chief of the Rhode Island WIC program. “The portal will help us serve our plan participants more efficiently.”

Ciber Vice President Scott Hanson said, “This engagement demonstrates Ciber’s ability to quickly implement Salesforce solutions due to the flexibility of the Salesforce Platform. Delivering WIC’s vendor portal through the cloud was key to making the solution viable and cost-effective for WIC.”

Ciber is a leader in providing IT support to WIC agencies. The company delivers WIC solutions that automate all major WIC clinic functions and reporting requirements while providing the flexibility to personalize WIC client service, reduce paperwork, reduce fraud, and improve the service to program participants. With nine states using Ciber WIC solutions, nearly 1 million WIC participants receive benefits supported by Ciber’s IT expertise.
