USM Presents $20,000 Donation To University of Pennsylvania Rena Rowan Breast Center

NORRISTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA – USM, Inc. announced that today 330+ of its employees, clients, and others, donned EMCOR Pink Hard Hats and assembled to form a giant pink ribbon, EMCOR’s “signature” event, in a “Call to Action” in support of breast cancer awareness as part of EMCOR’s “Protect Yourself. Get Screened Today.” Campaign. The event was held at USM’s headquarters in Norristown, Pennsylvania.

A leading national provider of interior and exterior facilities maintenance programs, USM is a subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc. (NYSE: EME) a Fortune 500® leader in mechanical and electrical construction, industrial and energy infrastructure, and facilities services for a diverse range of businesses.

As part of the event, a $20,000 donation was presented by USM to the University of Pennsylvania’s Rena Rowan Breast Center. Dr. Czerniecki, Co-Director of the Rena Rowan Breast Center participated in the event and was presented the donation by Ivan Dubow, Chief Operating Officer for USM. Also as part of the event, two USM employee breast cancer spokespeople shared their inspiring stories.

Through eight different creative fund raising events, including t-shirt and bake sales, pink ribbon basket raffles, cook-off’s, a golf event, and more, for the second year in a row, hundreds of USM employees rallied month long to raise the largest donation possible.

“We’re delighted to participate in EMCOR’s fifth consecutive year of this national initiative,” stated Ivan Dubow. "As a company that’s built its reputation on being engaged in the concerns of our industry and community, it’s gratifying to demonstrate support for breast cancer awareness and the importance of early detection, standing with our dedicated employees and clients.”

Dr. Czerniecki commented, “The University of Pennsylvania thanks USM and the ‘Protect Yourself.’ Campaign for this generous donation. It was thrilling to be part of this memorable and visual way to increase awareness of breast cancer screening. With breast cancer affecting 200,000+ women in the U.S. annually, our efforts here today to increase awareness through the Pink Hard Hat program are an innovative way to remind women and men to make an appointment for a mammogram.”

EMCOR and its clients are forming five Pink Hard Hat Ribbons across the U.S. this October.

Further, thousands of EMCOR employees coast to coast are wearing Pink Hard Hats at hundreds of construction sites---ranging from hospitals, roadways, malls, and high tech companies, to universities, military bases, and hotels. Additionally, EMCOR’s fleet of 7,000+ service vehicles are carrying the message of “Protect Yourself. Get Screened Today.” to millions of people every day throughout October by displaying EMCOR Pink Hard Hat posters.
