Right on the mark with design and communication: in this year’s competition for the renowned Red Dot Awards in the field of communication design, Audi will once again receive the title of honour “Red Dot: Client of the Year” for the most successful collaboration with creative partners. The award, now in its fourth year, has thus been won three times by the brand with the four rings. This year’s jury has awarded a Red Dot for excellent communication design to a total of nine individual projects at AUDI AG, more than any other company.

“The Audi brand is always seeking for new ways to express our design philosophy – with surprising ideas, unusual formats and creative implementation. We and our partners are therefore delighted by this honor,” says Luca de Meo, Member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing at AUDI AG.

The Red Dot Design Awards are granted by an international jury of design experts to companies and the agencies they commission. This is Audi’s third win of the cross-industry prize of honour “Red Dot: Client of the Year”, after already securing the title in 2010 and 2011: “Like no other company, Audi has shown and proved in the field of communication design that these decisions are groundbreaking. Time and time again, the brand manages to fascinate the audience through a unique and innovative symbiosis of design and technology”, explains Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, the initiator and CEO of the Red Dot Award.

Amongst the award-winning individual projects, the presentation of the company with the four rings at the Consumer Electronics Show 2013 has earned it the particularly sought-after “Red Dot: Best of the Best” award. At the world’s most important electronics fair, held in Las Vegas in January, Audi demonstrated innovations involving the networking of cars as well as state-of-the-art lighting and sound technology. The brand’s trade fair stand was designed in the form of a black cube. This “Black Box” was broken up by an oversized sphere of light that provided a prominent stage for three special automobiles. A further eight appearances of the brand, distributed over a total of seven commissioned agencies, are winners in the Red Dot Design Award 2013 – from the temporary urban installation “AudiSphere” in Copenhagen to the online dialogue platform “Audi car chat”. A meticulously produced film that portrays the history of the company on a 180-degree panorama screen in the museum mobile of the Audi Forum Ingolstadt is also an example of outstanding communication design. “We show what it is that has defined Audi for more than a hundred years: mobility in its most emotional form”, says Thomas Frank, Head of Audi Tradition.

The Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen grants the Red Dot Awards in the independent disciplines of product design, communication design and design concepts. This year’s award ceremony for the field of communication design will take place this evening in the Konzerthaus at Berlin’s Gendarmenmarkt.
