Saz’s Features 2013 Blue Ribbon Award-Winning Cheeses and Bacon in Limited Time Sandwich Offerings

Milwaukee, WI — Wisconsinites know Saz’s is a great tradition at the Wisconsin State Fair. Now they can enjoy the 2013 State Fair Blue Ribbon winning cheeses and bacon in four handcrafted sandwiches at Saz’s State House Restaurant.  
 
 “I love State Fair and have been a supporter of the State Fair Park Foundation for years,” stated Steve Sazama, alias Saz. “Creating these sandwiches with the Blue Ribbon Winners is an opportunity to share the great flavors from local farmers and at the same time support the 4-H Foundation,” Saz continued.
 
The Saz’s Blue Ribbon Sandwich lineup includes two special burgers and two gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches.  A unique twist on the Southwest Burger features the Blue Ribbon Award-Winning Havarti Cheese with Jalapeño Peppers from Decatur Dairy in Brodhead, Wisconsin, melted on a hand blended lean ground beef and chorizo sausage patty, topped with sautéed onions, grilled fresh pineapple, and tomatillo sauce. “The Finest” Milwaukee Burger showcases the Blue Ribbon Award-Winning Muenster Cheese from Mill Creek Cheese in Arena, Wisconsin and the Reserve Champion Bacon with sliced pork loin, sliced ham, slaw and stone ground mustard sauce on a pretzel bun.
 
There are also two grilled cheese sandwich offerings. The Sante Fe features the Blue Ribbon Havarti Cheese with Jalapeño Peppers, fresh avocado, roasted red pepper and a house made garlic aioli that delivers a delicious burst of flavor. Rounding out the quartet is a Blue Ribbon Newton Grilled Cheese that combines Blue Ribbon Award Winning Muenster Cheese and Reserve Champion Bacon with grilled green apple, caramelized onions and cran-Berry Weiss jelly on 9-grain bread.
 
 “These limited time offerings are allowing us to showcase fresh Wisconsin ingredients in surprising combinations and continue to push the envelope on flavor,” said Chef Michael Paris.
