ISHM Recognizes 2013 Safety Management Professional of the Year

On September 30th, the Safety Management Professional of the Year Award was presented to a safety professional that has excelled in their role in safety management. The Institute for Safety and Health Management, in partnership with Westex, a flame resistant fabric manufacturer known for their uncompromising commitment to safety, administer the prestigious award.  The award was presented in conjunction with the Westex Venue at the National Safety Council (NSC) Congress and Expo held in Chicago, Illinois. 
 
The event took place at Soldier Field and was attended by Steve McMichael and Otis Wilson who were both on the Bear’s Super Bowl XX winning team.  This year’s award went to Anita Falconetti, CSMP.  Anita works for Bally Technologies as their Global Safety Coordinator.  She is responsible for information, training, coordination and facilitation related to safety for the company worldwide. In this role, Anita provides guidance on best safety practices and procedures, and has developed and manages programs to ensure the safety of employees and compliance with OSHA and other local, state and federal regulations.
 
One of the committee members who helped in the selection process is Jan Rosenberg, Deputy Administrator of the Nevada Division of Industrial Relations (DIR).  Mr. Rosenberg reported, “As Global Safety Coordinator, Anita Falconetti has utilized safety management principles to integrate safety into all levels and activities of Bally Technologies.  She has lead the effort of ingraining safety fully into the corporate culture.  This has resulted in significant reductions in workers’ compensation claims, thus adding to the bottom line of her company. As a Certified Safety Management Practitioner (CSMP) through the Institute for Safety and Health Management, Anita exemplifies just how valuable a true Safety Management professional can be to her employer by keeping employees safe on the job and at the same time improving profitability of the company. It is wonderful to see a dedicated and effective safety management professional like Anita be awarded the distinction of the 2013 ISHM Safety Management Professional of the Year.”
