New FEMA Flood Maps become effective on September 18, 2013

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has been working with county and municipal governments over the last several years to incorporate the best available data into New Flood Maps.

Federal law requires that if your property is mapped into a special flood hazard area, and you have a mortgage through a federally regulated or insured lender, flood insurance will be required when the new flood maps become effective.
