Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA), the independent music distribution arm of Warner Music Group, today announced a partnership with independent record label Partisan Records and its affiliate Knitting Factory Records, a division of Knitting Factory Entertainment. Partisan is home to such critically-acclaimed artists as Deer Tick, The Dismemberment Plan, Guards, Heartless Bastards and Pure Bathing Culture, while Knitting Factory Records has released albums from Fela Kuti and Femi Kuti, among others, and will release a new album by the iconic Gipsy Kings next month. ADA will contribute its digital & physical distribution services to releases from each of the label’s roster of artists.

In making the announcement, Ari Taitz, SVP, Independent Distribution and Strategic Development, WEA and ADA, and David Orleans, President, ADA, said, “The team behind Partisan and Knitting Factory Records have a real skill for discovering new talent, and their roster of incredible music is testament to their great taste. We feel privileged to team up at such an exciting time and look forward to working alongside them as they continue to flourish.”

“Partnering with ADA will be an enormous asset to us and our artists,” said Tim Putnam and Ian Wheeler, Co-Founders of Partisan Records. “Over the years, ADA has helped lots of independent labels, as well as many of our favorite acts, reach a wider fan base and build careers.”

Founded in 2007, Partisan Records is based in Brooklyn, NY. The label recently released the albums Moon Tides by Pure Bathing Culture, The Mountain Moves by Treetop Flyers, Pale Green Ghosts by John Grant, Untamed Beast by Sallie Ford & the Sound Outside, and Gentle Stream by The Amazing. Partisan is also home to Aaron Freeman, Bobby, Callers, Christopher Denny, Diamond Rugs, Dolorean, Emily Wells, Field Report, Holy Sons, Lumerians, Middle Brother, Mountain Man, Paleo, Virgin Forest, and Warm Ghost.

Founded in 2002, as an offshoot of the celebrated Knitting Factory club in lower Manhattan, Knitting Factory Records was reborn in 2009 with the acquisition and re-release of the Fela Kuti catalog. Its roster also includes AgesandAges, Ash Black Bufflo, Gary Lucas, Gregory Rogove, Lemi, Lumerians, Patrolled by Radar, Rachid Taha, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, The Lijadu Sisters, and The Phantom Family Halo. Knitting Factory Records also encompasses the catalogs of Instinct Records, Shadow Records, Shimmy Disc, and Evolver Records.

In June of 2012, ADA expanded its services to the independent music community by officially joining forces with Independent Label Group (ILG), adding the company’s resources and expertise in radio promotion, publicity and marketing to ADA’s current offering. Since that time, ADA has signed a range of new deals, including ones with hip-hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis as well as labels such as The End Records, Innovative Leisure, New West, and Sumerian Records.
