Ford Fiesta Vs Honda Jazz

With its redesigned grill and headlamps, the timeless Fiesta has been given a makeover for 2013. Opt for the 1.5 or 1.6-litre TDCi diesel engine for a more powerful ride, with CO2 emissions as low as 87g/km. The Honda Jazz boasts the manufacturer’s distinguished iVTEC engine in 1.2 or 1.4-litre capacities, with a choice of conventional five-speed manual or advanced automatic gearboxes. CO2 emissions are slightly more than the Fiesta, clocking in at 123g/km. Although the Fiesta may win this round, both models offer superb handling and performance. 

Both the Jazz and Fiesta have achieved five-star safety ratings from the reputable testing body EuroNCAP, so both offer exceptional assurance of safety and reliability. While the Jazz boasts a fine array of safety technologies – including ABS brakes, Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Brake Assist – Ford is clearly leading the way in the development of new safety technologies. The Fiesta is among the first generation of models to be fitted with technologies such as MyKey, Active City Stop, Emergency Assistance and SYNC – and the model has been awarded a grand total of six EuroNCAP Advanced awards for these innovations.

The Jazz and Fiesta are both fantastic hatchbacks, and both good choices in their own right. But on balance, it seems that the Fiesta beats the Jazz, thanks to its class-leading safety technology and unrivalled performance ratings.
