Bielsko Biala receives the prestigious Automotive Lean Production Award 2013

The “Automotive Lean Production 2012” in the Excellent Value Chain category has been assigned to the Fiat Plant in Bielsko Biala, after the analysis and evaluation process from a panel of experts selected by the German magazine “Automobil Produktion” and from the consulting firm “Agamus Consult”.

More than 1 100 workers at the Fiat Plant in Bielsko Biala (Poland) produce the engines for different Fiat-Chrysler models, and for different OEM.

The production system, which reached the Gold Award level in the World Class Manufacturing, gave evidence to the jury of the achieved results in terms of high efficiency in all manufacturing processes.

From 2007 the Plant has realized more than 30 000 projects within a continuous improvement process that led to excellent results, as the 2 090 days without accidents, or the systematic reduction of the unit production costs and the contextual upgrade of all the qualitative indicators on products.

The involvement of all human resources is the key of the success of the plant.
Workers have an active role in the amelioration process (last year each employee contributed with an average of 32 proposals) and the drivers of plants and machinery have a firsthand participation to basic maintenance activities.

The awards ceremony will take place in Wolfsburg (Germany) on October 23, during the 8th congress organized by “Automobil Produktion” and Agamus Consult.
