A leading role for Fiat in the European Athletics Junior Championships 2013

WEBWIRE

• A fleet of Fiat and Fiat Professional vehicles will accompany the under-20 athletes participating in the European Athletics Junior Championships 2013.
• From 18 to 21 July, Rieti will be the heart of European youth athletics: more than two thousand participants from 51 European countries.

Fiat will be following the young Italian athletes taking part in the European Athletics Junior Championships 2013, in Rieti from 18 to 21 July. Donning sky blue for Italy will be 72 under-20s – 40 male and 32 female – all intent on winning the highest number of the 40 European titles involved.

Official Sponsor of the CONI (the Italian Olympic Committee) for the 2012–2014 three-year period, the brand will provide the organisers with a fleet of cars and other vehicles – Punto, Freemont, Ducato Panorama and Scudo Panorama – characterised by specific graphics linked to the CONI.

The Panorama versions of the Scudo and Ducato models highlight the wide range of Fiat ’people transport’ vehicles intended for both professional use (taxis, shuttles, transport for those with disabilities) and private (families, sports teams, community organisations).

The same versatility is guaranteed by the Fiat Freemont, Italy’s best-selling 7-seater car, and by another best-seller, the Fiat Punto, which celebrates its twentieth anniversary this year: from 1993 to date, more than 8.7 million examples have been sold throughout Europe.

After hosting the Italian Athletics Junior Championships (14–16 June), the city in Lazio is the focal point of European youth athletics once more, with a packed and intense 4-day schedule involving more than two thousand participants – athletes, technicians, managers and judges – from 51 European countries and more than 400 volunteers taking part in its organisation.

The bond of the Fiat Group with the world of sport has always been a very strong one. The various Group brands have had many opportunities to link their image to various sports disciplines, at all levels, including football, basketball, yachting, motor racing, motorcycle racing, rugby, boxing, fencing, athletics and winter sports on snow and ice.

Highlights of the main sponsorships in recent years include the Turin 2006 Winter Olympics, when the Fiat Group supplied over three thousand cars and 1200 coaches as Main Sponsor. Fiat is currently involved on several fronts. In particular, the brand will be proud Top Sponsor of the Italian National Football Teams until 2014 and will be accompanying them to the forthcoming World Cup in Brazil. Additionally, after the London 2012 Olympics and the recent Mersin Mediterranean Games 2013, Fiat will be at the side of Italian athletes once more at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi (Russia).
