Air New Zealand teams up with the San Francisco Giants for a uniquely ‘Kiwi’ themed game night

WEBWIRE

San Francisco Giants fans are in for a uniquely Kiwi experience at the upcoming Friday night home game against the Diamondbacks (July 19th) with Air New Zealand staging a ‘take over’ of AT&T Park including a cultural and sporting exchange with four All Blacks players.

Four of our World Champion All Blacks will meet up on the field with four World Series Champion Giants players prior to the official game day batting practice. The All Blacks will kick rugby balls from home plate into the bleachers, while the Giants players will share tips on batting and pitching with the All Blacks players.

The Giants are also partnering with Air New Zealand to challenge their fans to jump onto Twitter and explain why they should by chosen to be transported directly from AT&T Park on Friday night and onto a direct Air New Zealand flight to Auckland for a ‘Giant New Zealand Weekend.’

The lucky pair will enjoy an overnight flight in Air New Zealand’s lay flat Business Premier seats and wake up in Auckland for an exhilarating day of activities giving them a taste of some of the great things New Zealand has to offer, before boarding another overnight flight home to San Francisco.

Air New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Christopher Luxon, who will be in San Francisco for the event, says, “Market research shows Americans tend to overestimate the amount of time it takes to get to New Zealand. The reality is that it’s a comfortable 12 hour overnight flight. You can jump on board, enjoy a great meal of New Zealand food and wine, go to sleep and wake up in Auckland. The amazing Air New Zealand ‘Giant New Zealand Weekend’ that’s up for grabs is a great way to show San Franciscans how accessible New Zealand is.”

San Francisco Giants Managing Vice President of Sponsorship and New Business Development Jason Pearl says, “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Air New Zealand to provide a truly unique home game experience for our fans and to help spread the word that New Zealand is closer than you think.”

Air New Zealand flies daily between Auckland and San Francisco.
