Massachusetts executive Bernie Dennis named chairman of American Heart Association

DALLAS, July 1, 2013 – Bernie Dennis, an executive in Sudbury, Mass., has been named chairman of the board of the American Heart Association for its 2013-14 fiscal year beginning July 1.

As chairman, Dennis will be responsible for the overall administration of business affairs, public relations and fundraising and will preside over meetings of the board of directors and administrative cabinet.

Dennis is owner of Dennis Associates, LLC, a management consulting firm in Sudbury, which he founded after retiring in 2004 as a vice president at Oracle Corporation. Previously, Dennis was an executive at Eastman Kodak.

A volunteer for more than 15 years, Dennis was the association’s treasurer in 2011-12 and chairman of its Founders Affiliate from 2008 to 2010. He is also a past chairman of the organization’s Rochester, N.Y., Division.  

In 2010-11, Dennis chaired the association’s Workplace Giving Initiative, and has also been active in engaging employees from leading companies in volunteerism.
